For this series called "War Trail," I went for a wilderness hike with a collection of poems written by a veteran of the U.S. war in Afghanistan. My process was one of slowing down: I read a stanza, paused, took in the surrounding woods, then gently changed my perspective. Using only the substance I found on the trail, I sought to create a visual image to accompany the poetry.
