Dave Baker (born 1980) is a painter who works in a variety of mediums. He was raised in Columbus, Ohio until his family moved to a rural Ohio farm when he was ten. For his undergraduate studies, he took drawing and painting classes at Baldwin-Wallace College in Cleveland (two years), Cleveland Institute of Art and Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts in Old Lyme, CT (two years). He earned a BFA in painting and drawing from The Ohio State University in 2003. Upon graduating, he became an art teacher for several years before resuming classroom and studio studies at Washington University in St. Louis, where he earned an MFA in visual arts in 2014.
For most of his career, he has used oil paint on canvas. In the last couple of years, he has expanded his practice to include video, film, poetry and performance. He resides in the mountains of Virginia where he has a studio, hikes and teaches art.
